WEEE Recycling

Our Commitment to the Environment

At ToolGuy, we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of electrical waste. As an Irish, online retailer of power tools and accessories, we fully comply with the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations 2014 (S.I. No. 149 of 2014), commonly known as WEEE.

Under these regulations, all retailers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) must provide a way for customers to recycle their old appliances free of charge, on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis.

What is WEEE?

WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. It includes most products that require a plug or battery, such as:

  • Drills
  • Sanders
  • Battery chargers
  • Electric saws
  • Cordless screwdrivers
  • Other power tools and accessories

These items must not be disposed of with general household waste due to the potential environmental harm.

Free WEEE Take-Back Service

ToolGuy offers a free take-back service for WEEE items when you purchase a similar product from us. This applies to any item that performs the same function.

How it works:

  • When you buy a new power tool or electronic accessory from ToolGuy, you may return your old, equivalent WEEE item to us for proper recycling.
  • You have up to 28 days from the date of delivery of your new product to return the old one.

We accept returns by post. Please contact us at info@toolguy.ie with your order details and we’ll provide return instructions, including the correct address for your WEEE return.

Battery Recycling

In line with Battery Regulations, ToolGuy also accepts used portable batteries for recycling. You may return them to us in person by post. Alternatively, you can drop them at any local battery collection point, commonly found in supermarkets or local authority recycling centres.

How to Identify Recyclable Products

All EEE items that should not be disposed of with general waste will carry the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol.

This symbol indicates that the product must be disposed of separately and taken to a proper recycling facility.

Local Recycling Centres

You can also take your old WEEE items and batteries to your nearest Civic Amenity Site or WEEE Ireland drop-off point. To find your nearest recycling location, visit www.weeeireland.ie

Why Recycling Matters

Recycling WEEE reduces landfill waste, saves energy, and helps prevent hazardous substances from damaging the environment. At ToolGuy, we’re proud to play our part in creating a cleaner, more sustainable Ireland.
